Educational Qualifications & Eligibility — 2025 (as per recent IOCL notifications)

Engineer / Officer (Grade A) Posts

Must have a full-time B.E. / B.Tech (or equivalent) degree in the eligible disciplines (e.g. Chemical, Electrical, Instrumentation — depending on advertisement) from an AICTE/UGC-recognized institute. 

Minimum aggregate marks: 65% for General / EWS / OBC-NCL; 55% for SC / ST / PwBD (or as per notification). 

Age limit: Maximum 26 years (as of reference date, e.g. 01.07.2025). Age relaxations apply per categories (OBC, SC/ST, PwBD, etc.) as per rules. 

Junior Engineer / Officer (Diploma Holders) — Grade E0

Should have a 3-year full-time Diploma in the relevant engineering discipline (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation — as per advertisement) from recognized institute. 

Marks criteria (where specified): 65% for General/EWS/OBC-NCL; 55% for SC/ST/PwBD. 

Age limit: Minimum 18 years and maximum 26 years (as of relevant cut-off date, e.g. 01.07.2025). 

Apprentice Posts / Non-Executive Personnel / Other Posts

Depending on trade/discipline, qualifications may vary: e.g. ITI Certificate, Diploma, 12th Standard, Graduation (Bachelor’s degree in any stream), etc. 

Age limits vary depending on advertisement. E.g., for Apprentice posts in 2025: 18–24 years. 

For Non-Executive posts: e.g. Junior Operator / Junior Attendant / Junior Business Assistant — qualification as per post (10th + ITI, 12th, or Bachelor’s degree + some experience/computer skills). 

Other common eligibility conditions:

Must have a valid personal email ID and mobile number, active till at least end of recruitment process. 

Must meet nationality criteria (Indian). (Standard for IOCL) 

Mode of Selection (Typical for 2025 Recruitment)

The selection process depends on the post. For Engineer / Officer and Junior Engineer / Officer posts, the stages commonly are: 

Selection Stages:

1. Computer-Based Test (CBT) — objective test (MCQs) covering technical and aptitude/analytical/English/ reasoning. 

2. Group Discussion (GD) / Group Task (GT) — to assess communication skills, teamwork, problem solving, leadership (for certain posts). 

3. Personal Interview (PI) — to assess technical depth, personality, suitability. 

4. Document Verification — verification of educational certificates, age proof, caste/category certificate (if applicable), etc. 

5. Pre-Employment Medical Examination — to ensure candidate meets physical/medical fitness criteria as per IOCL norms. 

6. Final Merit & Offer — based on overall performance (CBT + GD/GT + PI + verification + medical). 

For Apprentice posts (or certain non-executive posts), selection may be simpler — e.g. shortlisting based on qualification/trade marks followed by document verification and medical (if mentioned). 

How to Fill Online Exam / Recruitment Form — Step by Step Instructions

1. Go to official IOCL website: www.iocl.com → Navigate to “Latest Job Openings” or “Careers” / “Recruitment” section. 

2. Read the relevant notification PDF for the post (e.g. Engineer / Officer 2025, Junior Engineer 2025, Apprentice 2025 etc.) carefully — check eligibility, age limit, required documents, important dates. 

3. On the portal, register with a valid e-mail ID and mobile number (which will remain active till end of recruitment). 

4. Log in with registration credentials → Fill in required personal, educational, communication, category details correctly (as per certificates).

5. Upload scanned photograph, signature, required certificates (education, caste/ reservation, disability if any, etc.) as per specifications in the notification. 

6. Pay the application fee if applicable (via online payment gateway: debit/credit card, net-banking, or as per instructions). 

7. Review filled form carefully → submit the form → take a printout and/or save the confirmation / acknowledgment slip for future reference. 

8. Keep your registration ID / password safe — you’ll need it to download admit card / check result / further communication.

Exam Syllabus — Subject-Wise (Common / Generic Syllabus Pattern)

The exact syllabus varies by post (Engineering discipline, Non-executive, Apprentice, etc.). IOCL does not always publish a fully detailed, uniform syllabus — instead, only broad subject areas are given. Based on recent recruitment patterns, the typical syllabus includes:

Technical / Discipline-specific Knowledge — depending on Engineering discipline (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation, etc.) for Engineer / Junior Engineer posts. 

Quantitative Aptitude — numerical ability, basic mathematics. 

Logical Reasoning / Analytical Ability — reasoning questions, data interpretation, mental ability. 

Verbal Ability / English Language — grammar, comprehension, vocabulary, reading, writing.
