Candidates must meet the following academic criteria:

Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university
Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala Degree in Engineering from a recognized university/institution
Air Force Academy (AFA), Hyderabad Degree from a recognized university (with Physics & Mathematics at 10+2 level) or a Bachelor of Engineering
Officers’ Training Academy (OTA), Chennai (Men & Women) Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university or equivalen

Selection is conducted in three stages:

  1. Written Examination

    • IMA, INA, AFA: Three papers (English, General Knowledge, and Elementary Mathematics)

    • OTA: Two papers (English, General Knowledge)

  2. SSB Interview (Personality Test)

    • Two-stage selection process by Services Selection Board

      • Stage I: Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests + Picture Perception & Description Test (PPDT)

      • Stage II: Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests, and Conference

  3. Medical Examination

    • Candidates recommended by SSB must undergo medical tests at designated military hospitals.
